Dont know what to do =(?

I started dating this guy who is younger then me. We started off great! He is afraid of commiting big time. he has only had one relationship and that ended bad for him. He also has grown up with a father who has been divorced a few times so he sees really nothing good out of relationships. We went out on a few dates. He can be a really sweet guy. I was hoping I good get him to give me a chance. He has told me he has anxiety issues and tells me that I deserve better and he talks down about himself (ex: he is a fat piece of ****) he has also stated he is an alcoholic. I tell him I dont see anything bad in him. He has had a few instances where he has been a "dick" to me. But I got over it. Well now for some reason he has just stopped talking to me. He wont return my texts. I even saw him at one of local hangouts a few days ago and he didnt even approach me and when I went to approach him i said his name twice and he ignored me. I really care about this guy and see something so special in him. Should I leave it alone? Or do I sit here and hold my breath and wait to see if he decides he wants to talk to me? I think I would feel better if he would tell me what happened. Confused and hurt.
