How do you repel flying bugs at your porch light?

I came home today and my front door was covered with bugs ; all trying to roost around my porchlight that is located next to my door. My front window is my only one so I don't want to inhale bug spray all night. What can I spray on the wall that is non-toxic and I can make safely at home
